KHYBER AGENCY: Two terrorists allegedly associated with Islamic State (IS) have been reported killed on Sunday in an encounter with the Aman Lashkar (peace militia) in Zakha Khel area of Khyber Agency.

According to reports, the terrorists from across the border attacked the check-posts of Aman Lashkar. In the retaliatory fire that ensued, two terrorists were killed while the others managed to flee. The terrorists used mortar shells and rocket launchers during the attack.

The bodies of the deceased were in the custody of Aman Lashkar.

According to sources, the militants were associated with the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh. The IS militants are in control of several districts of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan bordering Pakistan.

Soon after the attack, the American airstrikes targeted three militant hideouts in Nangarhar province which killed at least 14 Daesh militants.

The IS militants have been trying to build up pressure on Pakistan’s border security forces’ check posts and also trying to disconnect Jalalabad city and Kunar province of Afghanistan from Kabul. In this connection, the IS militants have also approached different militant groups.
