ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has constituted special squads to curb racing and one-wheeling practices which not only put the lives of those involved in such activities at risk but also of others.

Following the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Traffic), these squads have been constituted and parents and citizens have been appealed to play their role in curbing such practices.

The police spokesperson said that ITP has decided to take strict action against those involved in racing at commercial and residential areas. Following the demands of citizens, he said that such practices would be curbed and every possible effort would be made to ensure the protection of the lives and property of the citizens.

Referring to a tragic incident in Blue Area two days ago, which resulted in deaths of two motorcyclists, the SSP expressed sorrow and said that these bike riders smashed into a cemented security barrier after entering into the cordoned area where diversions boards, plastic cones and reflecting tapes were placed.

He said that over-speeding was the only reason behind this sad incident and it is appealed to the citizens to refrain their children from such practices. He also appealed to the citizens to immediately inform police in case of observing any such practice around them.
