Well-trained police force vital to face present challenges: Jhagra

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Friday said that we are facing serious internal and external challenges and a decent and well-trained police force, is essential to meet these challenges.

He was addressing the participants of the 3rd Junior Command Course for deputy superintendents of police (DSP) at the Governor House.

Besides the governor, Pakistan Provincial Services Academy (PPSA) Director General (DG) Nighat Mehroz, faculty members and graduating police officers, were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, the PPSA DG briefed the governor about the aims and objectives of the course, and its importance for the police force.

Addressing the participants, the governor said that training activities at all levels provided an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills, while building one’s personality.

Congratulating the participants of the 3rd Junior Command Course on successful completion of course, the governor said that the police force was not only a symbol of state’s authority against criminals but was also responsible for the protection of lives and properties of the general public.

Moreover, Governor Jhagra said, “Make the people feel that you are their servants and friends. Maintain the highest standards of honour, integrity, justice and fair play. If you do that, people will have confidence and trust in you and will look upon you as friends and well-wishers.”

He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Provincial Services Academy for preparing officers for efficient service delivery. Later, the governor distributed certificates amongst the graduating police officers.
