PTDC to run tramcar in capital city

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is planning to run a tramcar in the capital on Constitution Avenue and Margalla Road.

Tramcar is a passenger vehicle that runs on a railroad laid down on public roads and is powered by electricity that is conveyed to the engine by overhead cables.

Talking to reporters, an official of PTDC said that efforts were in full swing to promote tourism at national and international levels by initiating innovative projects.

He said that initially the tramcar would be run at Constitution Avenue and Margalla Road to entertain the tourists from across the country and abroad.

The official further said that PTDC was also planning to open an amusement park and a golf course over 25 acres of land in Shakarparian. “Vega Modern Tourism Solutions will conduct a survey and prepare a comprehensive report on possible areas of investment in the area.” he said.

He also said that the said company’s information technology department would also develop an Online Reservation System for PTDC Motels, where customers could make online reservations without any hassle.
