LAHORE: The delegations of Khalid Khokhar Group and Chaudhry Anwar Group of Kissan Ittehad called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, here today separately. During the meetings, detailed discussions were held regarding the solution of problems being faced by the farmers. Members of both the groups paid tributes to the CM for taking necessary measures for the benefit of the farmers.
Kissan Ittehad (Khokhar Group) President Khalid Khokhar said that a lot of problems have been solved by the Punjab government and the subsidy given in fertilisers has tremendously benefited the farmers. Kissan Ittehad (Anwar Group) President Chaudhry Anwar of said that unique steps have been taken for improving the economic lot of the farmers by the Punjab government and added that farmers are companions and well-wishers of the chief minister. He also acknowledged the Kissan Package and added that the coming generations of the farmers will be thankful for it.
Addressing the delegations of Kissan Ittehad, Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif said that farmers are his brothers and their stakes are very dear to him. Pakistan will be prosperous if farmers are prosperous and keeping this thing in view, the PML-N government has taken revolutionary steps for the development of the agriculture sector, he said. The government has given a subsidy of Rs 14.5 billion on agricultural tube wells, while 1.75 lakh farmers have been given interest-free loans, he said.
He said that rural roads have been constructed and repaired with a cost of Rs 85 billion in different rural areas and this has given tremendous benefit to the rural inhabitants. He said that the farmers have been served by providing the necessary resources and their problems have also been settled on a priority basis and the same will be done in future. He said that the price of sugarcane was maintained in the past for the benefit of the farmers.
Je directed to constitute a high-level committee for the solution of problems of the farmers and said that this committee would include Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Bilal Yasin, Asif Saeed Manhais, Naeem Akhtar Bhabha, chief secretary and secretaries of the concerned departments.
