  • Abbasi suggests fact-finding mission visits Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has stated that the denial of the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people for the last seven decades raises questions about the conscience of the international community and the United Nations.

“The worst form of state terrorism is being perpetrated against the Kashmiri people to silence and crush their legitimate struggle, in complete disregard of international human rights and humanitarian laws. The entire Indian state machinery is involved in these crimes against humanity,” he said.

“There is a need for an independent, transparent and fair investigation into these human rights violations under the UN,” he said in his message on the occasion of the Black Day observed every year on October 27. Pakistan has supported the proposal of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for sending a fact-finding mission to Jammu Kashmir, he said.

“We reiterate our call and hope that the international community will pay heed to the miseries and sufferings of the Kashmiri people,” he added. The prime minister described October 27, 1947 as one of the darkest days of human history and said this day marks a grave human tragedy when 69 years ago Indian forces landed in Srinagar to occupy, subjugate, oppress, and terrorise innocent Kashmiris.

“This pattern of brutalities continues with impunity even today,” he said. Despite commitments made by the early Indian leadership and several resolutions of the UN Security Council on Jammu Kashmir, the Indian government had unleashed a reign of terror in the disputed state, he said.

Prime Minister Abbasi said that India must honour commitments of its founding fathers and ensure implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu Kashmir for resolution of this long-standing dispute.

“We pay homage to the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brethren and reiterate our unflinching and steadfast moral, diplomatic and political support for the just cause of the people of Jammu Kashmir. This support will continue till the realisation of the lawful right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people,” he added.

  1. JANAB ABBASI SAHIB, 70 YEARS HAVE PASSED BUT PAKISTAN IS STUCK AT THE SAME CROSSING AND GOES ON HARPING ABOUT ATROCITIES ON KASHMIRI PEOPLE. PRAY THINK OVER WHETHER THIS STANCE ON THE ISSUE HAS OR WILL EVER HELP IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM. SUCH DEMANDS ARE VAGUE AND UNIMPLEMENTABLE BEST ONLY FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION WHO TOO MUST HAVE DEVELOPED INDIGESTION FOR SUCH STATEMENTS. PLEASE DO READ THE UN RESOLUTION OF 13 AUG 1948 AND FIND FOR YOUR SELF AS TO WHO RENEGED ON IT’S IMPLEMENTATION IN THE FIRST INSTANCE. AS FAR AS PLEBSCITES / REFRENDOMS ARE CONCERNED THESE CARRY VARYING OPINIONS AT VARIOUS TIMES. MAY BE IF YOU CONDUCT REFRENDOMS IN BOTH COUNTRIES TO DAY IN THEIR DIFFERENT PARTS RESULTS MAY BE SHOCKING FOR BOTH HENCE WISDOM LIES IN NOT ADMINISTERING A MEDICINE THAT MAY AGGRAVATE THE MALADY . BEST WOULD BE TO ENHANCE CORDIAL RELATIONS CREATE PEACEFUL ATMOSPHERE AND SIT ACROSS A TABLE TO TACKLE THE PROBLEM

  2. These statements are for pak local consumption.
The world is fully aware of Pakistan’s fatal obsession with acquiring Kashmir.
Pakistan has already lost half its country, due to its own follies of crushing the voices of reason. Balochistan is next, thousands have been kidnapped, tortured and remain missing. Bloggers, journalists, or anyone, looking for the truth, is murdered by the non state actors under the control of the establishment.
Jinnah may have created Pakistan, but he must be turning in his grave, seeing the mess Pakistan has pushed itself in.

  3. It’s hilarious when Pakistan talks about human rights. Pakistan is committing the worst human rights violation in Baluchistan, POK, GB and FATA. Pakistan still has collective punishment as part of its law in many areas. By law minorities in Pakistan do not have equal rights and are considered inferior. Pakistans Chief Justice says that he cannot utter the word “Hindu” as he considers it disgusting. Pakistans foreign minister says he never meets Ahmedis and makes fun of them and this country talks about human rights. A country that bombs its own citizens using f16 fighters talks about pellet guns. And you expect the world to take you seriously.

  4. PAK TO DAY DESERVES TO BE APPRECIATED FOR PUBLISHING THESE VIEWS WHICH ARE WELL MEANING AND STRESS ON HANDLING KASHMIR ISSUE OBJECTIVELY. PEOPLE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BORDER ARE FED UP WITH THE CONTINUING VIOLENCE AND LOSS OF INNOCENT LIVES FOR NO FAULT OF THEIRS. WHENEVER AN OPPURTUNITY FOR TALKS OCCURS IT IS KILLED BY ACTS OF VIOLENCE. HOW CAN THINGS MOVE FORWARD.? BLAME GAME WILL NOT SERVE ANY PURPOSE . TO GO ON HARPING FOR THE SAME THING FOR DECADES ON END SHOWS BANKRUPCY OF POITICAL ACUMEN.

  5. At least 100 Kashmiri students have been wounded during clashes with security forces in Indian-administered Kashmir as anger over a weekend police raid on a college led to protests.

Police on Monday fired tear gas and rubber bullets as demonstrations broke out in the main city of Srinagar before spreading to other parts of the Kashmir Valley.

“We were peacefully protesting; our brothers were being thrashed inside (the college), we came for their support as we couldn’t tolerate this,” Isma, a student participating in the protest, told Al Jazeera.

  6. The Kashmir Valley has been hit by massive protests, violence and death in the last two weeks. The clashes with the police after the death of Burhan Wani has snowballed into a major crisis with almost daily clashes with the security forces in the streets of towns in Kashmir.

Burhan Wani was a young Hizbul Mujahideen commander from south Kashmir’s Tral area. Wani was prolific on social media, using it to >to reach out to the youth and creating huge following. His killing was announced by the Army on July 8, a Friday. It triggered massive protests.”The Hindu”
