Imran takes jab at ‘VIP’ accountability of Sharifs

UPPER DIR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday criticised the “VIP” treatment given to the indicted Sharif family, saying that ordinary criminals went to jail whereas the influential ones got “40-car motorcades”.

Addressing a rally in Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan said that the Sharif family was facing “VIP accountability” for the charges of corruption levelled against it.

“They arrive in convoys of 40-50 vehicles with official protocol,” he exclaimed.

Criticising ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari, Khan said that the two were the biggest dacoits of the country, adding that the nation had to pay for the loot of its elite.

He said that his party will establish a “Naya Pakistan” for the country’s youth after coming into power.

“We have to make it a country where there is justice. During the time of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) laws were the same for rich and poor,” he added.
