ISLAMABAD: Two people died when two heavy bikes crashed into concrete barriers here on Thursday eve.
Police said that two over speeding heavy bikes, travelling at 200km/h, rammed into concrete blocks placed on Jinnah Avenue in the federal capital.
As a result, two bikers died on the spot and their bodies were later moved to a hospital or postmortem.
Police officials said that the blocks were placed recently on the road as part of security measures adopted for the federal capital. They said that since it was dark, the bikers could not see the hurdles placed on the road which resulted in the accident.
It is worth mentioning that concrete blocks could be seen blocking almost every road of Islamabad, despite the officials concerned declaring it a safe city after installation of expensive cameras on major roads.
The security checkpoints at Aabpara were particularly a source of nuisance for the commuters who were forced to cross the checkpoint in a single lane, even though the road comprised of six lanes. It was also an astonishing sight for citizens to see the cops deployed at the checkpoint busy chatting with each other or drinking tea, instead of keeping an eye on the traffic.
