Calm innings by Shoaib Malik helps Pakistan cruise against Sri Lanka

ABU DHABI: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the first Twenty20 international in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Pakistan, after the loss of two early wickets, stabilised their innings with Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik on the crease in the first Twenty20 international in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Fakhar Zaman was bowled by Sanjaya after making 6 and Babar Azam was stumped.

Sri Lanka, sent into bat, were bowled out for 102 in 18.3 overs by Pakistan.

Seekuge Prasanna finished with 23 not out while debutant Sadeera Samarawickrama also made 23. Hasan Ali took a career-best 3-23.

Sri Lanka suffered losses with Pakistan continuing its attack and claiming seven wickets before the 15 over mark.

Samarawickrama and Gunathilaka, after trying to stabilise the inning, made a contribution of 42 runs before returning to the pavilion.

Imad Wasim struck in the first over to claim Munaweera’s wicket for a duck.

Pakistan won the toss and had put Sri Lanka to bat.
