LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Annual Development Program (ADP) of the provincial government is reflective of development and prosperity of the people as public welfare has been given special importance in development schemes. He said this while addressing a meeting held to review progress on ADP and various initiatives of public importance, here on Thursday.
He said that implementation of the development program worth Rs 635 billion will further expedite the development process in the province and added that composite development of the less developed areas is included in our priorities. That is why, record funds have been allocated for the prosperity of southern Punjab, he added.
The chief minister said that the main objective of development schemes is to bring qualitative improvement in the lives of the people. In this regard, special focus is given to the development of the social sector, he said. He said that under the Pakian Sarkan—Sukhay Painday Program, a network of carpeted roads has been spread in the rural areas. This mega programme has revolutionised the rural economy with the construction and rehabilitation of different roads situated in rural areas, he said. Due to this, the rural lifestyle has also been transformed, he added.
He said that resources worth billions of rupees have been saved due to timely, transparent and qualitative completion of development schemes. Timely utilisation of funds not only helps in completion of projects according to the schedule but also provides an opportunity to the people to fully benefit from these schemes. The resources are a sacred trust of the people and therefore, every penny is being utilised on the projects of public interest with utmost honesty, he said.
CM CONGRATULATES XI JINPING: In a separate development, the Punjab CM congratulated the Chinese President Xi Jinping on being elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China for the second term. In his message of felicitations, the chief minister said that President Xi Jinping has played a leadership role in the development and prosperity of China. He said that the ideology of the Chinese president is based on high human values and collective well-being of the people. Due to his ideology, China has progressed by leaps and bounds.
