Bids to smuggle drugs, gold to Turkey foiled

LAHORE: The Custom Department and Airport Security Force (ASF) foiled separate bids to smuggle 200g gold and 1.5kg drugs to Turkey and arrested a drug peddler at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore on Thursday.

The ASF, during search of baggage of a passenger leaving for Istanbul through international airline flight 715, recovered 1.5kg drugs worth million of rupees in the international market. The ASF confiscated the recovered drugs and arrested the accused Nadeem who was shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Custom Department seized two gold coins weighing 200g from bag of a Turkey bound passenger identified as Haris. The Custom Department confiscated the recovered gold; however, the passenger was allowed to travel.
