Shehbaz felicitates Chinese president for enshrinement in constitution

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people of China for enshrining the president’s name and political thought into the Constitution of the Communist Party of China.

He said that the ideology of the Chinese president is based on the larger public interest and high human values.

“Enshrinement of his name and ideology into the Constitution of the Communist Party is the proof of fullest confidence over his leadership as due to his political wisdom, China has tremendously progressed,” he said.

The Chinese president has paved the way for a secure future through the historical initiative of ‘belt and road’ and this step is giving new dimensions to the development strategy, he added.

The chief minister said that the ‘belt and road’ initiative depicts the wonderful vision of Xi Jinping as it was reflective of a secure future. This vision will ensure lasting peace, stability and economic prosperity in the region, he added.

“It is a historic step to win hearts and minds of the people by including them in the journey of economic development,” he said. He said that this wonderful initiative was also an effective measure to overcome the menace of terrorism and extremism by empowering the people.

“Marvellous support of economic globalisation by Chinese President Xi Jinping is based on strong contacts with the people,” the CM added.

CM CONDEMNS INDIAN FIRING ON LOC:

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the firing by Indian Army at the civilian population in Lipa Sector at the Line of Control (LOC).

In a statement issued here, he expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of two women as a result of the Indian firing and extended sympathies to their families. He prayed for early recovery of the injured.

The chief minister said that targeting of civilian population by India was highly condemnable and a cowardly act.

He said that Indian military jingoism was a threat to peace in the region and added that India must not forget that brave armed forces of Pakistan had the fullest capability to deal with any Indian aggression and that the whole nation stood with the Pak Army.
