VADODARA: A woman was taken into custody here on Sunday for throwing bangles at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motorcade while he was on his roadshow in the city, reported Daily Bhaskar.

A video that went viral showed Chandrika Solanki, who is the president of Contract and Fixed Salary Struggles Committee women wing, leading the protest by Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers when she threw bangles at PM Modi when his car passed VUDA circle.

As many as  250 ASHA workers were kept under detention at the Vadodara district until the  PM’s programme at the Navlakhi ground concluded.

Solanki claimed that she had been immediately detained after the incident and was only released once it was confirmed that the PM had reached the airport.

“The government is insensitive towards the conditions of workers, who are on a hunger strike,” she told reporters.

“I threw bangles at Modi as a mark of protest. I was detained when I threw half a dozen bangles at him again,” she added.
