NAB submits progress report of graft references against Sharifs, Dar to monitoring judge

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday submitted the progress report of Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s graft references to Justice Ijazul Ahsan, the Supreme Court’s (SC) designated monitoring judge in the implementation of the apex court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case.

The report details the indictments of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, son-in-law Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar and Finance Minister Dar.

The report also mentions that Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, have been declared proclaimed offenders for not showing up for court’s proceedings repeatedly.

Moreover, the report apprises the judge about the freezing of Dar’s assets by NAB. Furthermore, it informs the judge of the accountability court’s decree and includes all the statements of the prosecution witnesses against Dar.

In addition, the monitoring judge has been provided with a separate report that assures that security of the prosecution witnesses is being provided as per the court orders. Moreover, police and Frontier Corps (FC) officials have been deployed to ensure the security of NAB lawyers and investigation officers, mentions the report.
