“The shrines of Sufi saints should not be used for political point scoring,” Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal said while taking notice of reports regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan being barred from entering the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan.
In a statement issued from Bilawal House, Karachi, the PPP chief directed the Sindh government to constitute a committee over the issue and present a report to him.
Moreover, Bilawal in clarification said the police and local administration intercepted Imran when he wanted to enter the premises of the shrine along with his armed security guards. However, he was allowed to enter the shrine without his security guards.
Earlier in the day, Sindh police spokesperson said the standard operating procedure for security was the reason why Imran’s security guards were barred from entering the shrine.
