PTI chief barred from entering Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine

In an appalling move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was barred from entering the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan where the PTI chief addressed a large public gathering of his party on Sunday.

According to media reports, police did not allow PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, in the shrine to offer fateha and lay a floral wreath on the grave of the saint.

In an ensuing scuffle with police guards, at least three PTI workers were injured during their attempt to enter the shrine.

Meanwhile, PTI Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi, senior leaders Dr Arif Alvi and Aleem Adil Sheikh were allowed in whereas Imran Khan offered fateha outside the shrine.

Later, the PTI condemned the incident through a series tweets.

“Denying Imran Khan to pay respect & offer Fateha at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine is appalling. Sehwan Sharif is for all!#KaptaanInSehwan,” the PTI posted on its official Twitter page.

In another tweet, the party wrote, “Khan was not allowed to enter in the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar which is against cultural and religious norms of Sindh#KaptaanInSehwan.”

“Sindhis are famous for hospitality & respect of religious places.Stopping IK to enter at Qalandar’s seems forceful act#KaptaanInSehwan.”

Lastly, the PTI tweeted, “Fact that @BBhuttoZardari does jalsa in KP but IK isn’t let into Sehwan Sharif tells alot abt security in both provinces#KaptaanInSehwan.”

Earlier, addressing the rally, Imran Khan lashed out at PML-N and PPP leadership, urging masses to support him for ouster of corrupt elements from power corridors.
