LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban (MQZ) Director General (DG) on the petitions seeking implementation of Urdu as the official language.
LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah on Monday took up for hearing three cases of identical nature whereby neglecting court orders for introducing Urdu as the official language had been challenged.
The petitioners took the plea that Supreme Court had ordered to implement Urdu as the official language but the apex court order is not being implemented.
Federal government law officers said that steps are being carried out to implement Urdu as official language, adding that it will take two or more years to introduce Urdu as the official language completely.
The LHC chief justice observed that decades are needed to implement Urdu as it cannot be done overnight.
The court further adjourned the hearing till November 14.
