LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday stopped the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) from making recovery of tax from the Expo Centre, Lahore.
Justice Ayesha A Malik passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by the Expo Centre challenging notices issued by the PRA for recovery of tax.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that the PRA had issued notices to the Expo Centre for recovery of tax. He contended that the authority could not recover tax from the Expo Centre as it was owned by the federal government.
He pleaded with the court to set aside the notices issued by the PRA for the purpose and suspend its operation till the final decision of the petition. Upon this, the court stopped the authority from recovering tax from the Expo Centre and issued notices to the respondents for reply.
