Potohar division police bust six criminal gangs

RAWALPINDI: Potohar division police in their crackdowns against criminals and anti-social elements have busted six gangs of criminals.

Talking to APP Potohar Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Ali informed that police recovered three stolen cars, seven motorcycles, cash Rs1,225,000 and nine pistols from the possession of the criminals.

He said that a massive operation was launched in September to net the drug dealers and police succeeded to round up 74 drug suppliers. 1,220 grammes heroin, 34,955 grammes weed and 284-liter liquor were also recovered.

A total of eight cases were registered in different police stations of the division during last month, he said and informed that seven cases have been traced as police nabbed 12 accused whose challans have been submitted to the courts.

He said two robbery cases were registered during last month, which was solved and police apprehended the accused besides recovering Rs500,000 looted amount.

To a question, Syed Ali informed that a total of 51 cases under National Action Plan were registered in September against the lawbreakers for possessing illegal weapons. Police also recovered a Kalashnikov, eight rifles, 39 pistols, one revolver, a carbine and 317 rounds.

14 FIRs were also lodged in the police stations of the division against renting rules, sound system, shops and security ordinance violators and accused were sent behind the bars.
