Japanese consul general says more companies to set up industries in Pakistan

KARACHI: Consul General of Japan in Karachi Toshikazu Isomura has said that around 83 Japanese companies are operating in Pakistan and their number will be increased in future.

He expressed these views on the first day of the two-day event “Hamara Dostana” (Our Friendship) held here on Saturday at Japanese Consulate to celebrate 65-years of Pakistan and Japan’s diplomatic ties.

The event was organised jointly under the banner of Consulate General of Japan in Karachi and Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Sindh.

The consul general said that both Pakistan and Japan are enjoying a good relationship and it will further strengthen. He also said that the Olympic Games will be held in 2020 in Japan so he has invited the guests to visit Japan on this occasion.

The Chairman of Pakistan Japan Business Forum Sohail Ahmad has said that the first business delegation of Japan had visited Pakistan in 1948. He said right now 83 Japanese companies are working in Pakistan and more than 12 thousand people are working in these companies.

He further stated that these companies pay Rs160 billion taxes to Pakistan government.

The President of JPCA Sadia Rashid said that this is a happy occasion that we are celebrating 65-year of diplomatic ties.

On the first day of the two-day event, Kendo performance and Jujutsu demonstration took place, besides ikebana and bonsai demonstrations.  On the second day, various activities took place at the residence of the Japanese consul general on Sunday.
