PESHAWAR: The anti-dengue measures in Peshawar are paying off as entomologists of University of Peshawar (UoP) have presented a report to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in which it has been stated that dengue mosquitoes have started to reduce in the city.
The experts conducted surveys in the areas of Sufaid Dheri and Pishtakhara and found a significant amount of decrease in dengue larva. Dengue mosquitos were found in hundred per cent houses of Pishtakhara one-and-half-month ago.
According to details, the larva has reduced by 75 per cent in Pishtakhara and 34 per cent in Sufaid Dheri. Dengue is present in 687 homes out of 2,600 in Pishtakhara, and in 387 houses out of 2,620 in Sufaid Dheri, according to the report.
The district administration is working to completely eliminate the larva from the locality and has informed that the last phase of the anti-dengue campaign in the city is underway. Dengue larva from 96,000 homes will be destroyed during the operation.
