LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the passing out ceremony of the Dolphin police force on Saturday and said that the force was formed to safeguard the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Punjab.
In his address, the chief minister said that the idea of the Dolphin force had come from the Yunuslar (dolphin) force in Turkey. He expressed hope that the Pakistani force’s quality of service would be at par with that of its Turkish counterpart and that it would set examples in the eradication of crimes.
The chief minister also said that three billion rupees had been spent on the Dolphin force by the government and people had high expectations from it.
The idea of the Dolphin force was conceived in 2013 when it was decided that 700 policemen will be equipped to fight street crime.
