Estranged MQM leader accuses Sattar of maintaining links with MQM-London

KARACHI: Disgruntled Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MNA Salman Mujahid opened a can of worms on Saturday, alleging that MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar was still in contact with MQM-London leaders, and that the party was “deceiving the establishment”.

He also accused the MQM-P leader used to book hotel rooms for Irum Mujahid, calling her “Sattar’s favourite”.

Moreover, he accused various leaders of establishing contact with MQM founder in London, including Kishwer Zehra, giving rise to speculations that MQM-P might be divided into two or more groups due to sudden confrontations.

The leader went on to claim that “five to six people within MQM-P want to take control of the party.”

He revealed the event of dispute when Kamran Tessori was made deputy convener.

He accused the senior leaders of MQM-P—including Farooq Sattar, Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, Faisal Sabzwari, Khawaja Izharul Hassan and others—of taking money from provincial departments as bribes. He warned Farooq Sattar that he will present video evidence of him taking bribes.

“Farooq Sattar and Faisal Sabzwari received money from District East. Waseem Akhtar took money from KMC. Khawaja Izhar received a bribe from North Karachi,” he claimed.

SATTAR RUBBISHES ALLEGATIONS OF CONTACT WITH MQM FOUNDER:

In response, both Irum Azeem and Farooq Sattar have rejected the allegations.

Farooq Sattar, while rubbishing the allegations of being in contact with the London-based founder of the MQM and Mustafa Kamal, said, “These are baseless and false allegations.”

He added that there were “some restless souls spreading false rumours”.

“Salman said all of this when he was expelled from the party. He basically wants to distract people so that no one questions why he was expelled,” the MQM-P chief explained.

On the allegation of speaking to MQM founder, he said that it is unimaginable he will be in contact with anyone like the founder.

“Some people will continue politics of allegations and keep on claiming that we are in contact with London. But, there is no such thing.”

Regarding his meeting with Kamal, he shared: “I have not met Mustafa Kamal at Seher Commercial or anywhere.”

He also shared that it is “an absolute lie” and that Salman was expelled over the issue surrounding Irum Azeem Farooque.

“There is no truth to rumours regarding the divide in the party,” he said, adding “all these allegations are false and I reject them as party’s convener.”

Irum Azeem took to Twitter and explained her position, saying: “Any channel has the guts to bring Salman and me face to face. Inshallah I will expose him under cyber crime.”

SALMAN BALOCH SLAMS FAROOQ SATTAR:

Earlier on Friday, Mujahid lambasted Farooq Sattar and Kamran Tessori, threatening to expose secrets regarding the party in the near future.

After being expelled from the party, he lashed out at Farooq Sattar, questioning his loyalties towards party workers.

“How can the one who disowned his party chief be loyal to workers?” he asked. “MQM is now being run by Farooq Sattar and Kamran Tessori,” he added.

He claimed that Sattar is indirectly in contact with MQM’s founder Altaf Hussain, adding that Sattar even approached Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal and asked for his help.

He also threatened to expose ‘lots of secrets’ pertaining to the party in the near future.

“They cannot expel me; the party isn’t the property of anyone and it belongs to every common man,” said Baloch, while talking to a news channel.

“I am asking the same question as Nawaz Sharif: mujhe kyun nikala [why was I expelled]?” the leader remarked.

“No one got MQM in their father’s will,” he claimed. “We accepted him [Farooq Sattar] as our leader even though he has no leadership qualities.”

He also shared that there is an evident divide in MQM-Pakistan. One faction is headed by Farooq Sattar, Kamran Tessori, Qamar Naveed, Khawaja Sohail Mansoor while the other one includes Aamir Khan, Faisal Sabzwari and Khawaja Izharul Hassan.

It merits mentioning here that two days ago, the leader had severely criticised MQM-Pakistan publicly.

MQM-P EXPELS SALMAN BALOCH:

MQM-P expelled Mujahid from the party late Friday.

According to the MQM spokesman, an important session of the party was held in Bahadurabad. The spokesman said that the party membership was cancelled because of violation of party ethics.

The party said that it has demanded Baloch to resign from the party. The MQM-P spokesman said that no party members should contact Salman Mujahid after his expulsion from the party.

Salman alleged that he was being punished for raising voice against the expulsion of another ex-party member, Irum Azeem Farooque.

The ex-MQM-Pakistan leader also shared that there is a threat to his life.

Earlier, another former MQM-P leader Irum Azeem Farooqui, while speaking to media, had remarked that MQM is under the control of mafia and shared that she is leaving the country.

“Yes, I have been threatened,” she remarked, adding, “They told me they will see me.”
