CM says Dolphin Force vital for curbing street crime

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Dolphin Force has to play a vital role in protecting life and property of the people and in improving the image of the Punjab police.

He expressed these views at the passing out parade of the second batch of the Dolphin Force at the Lahore Police Training College. As many as 696 policemen of the Dolphin Force have completed training to perform their duties in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur.

The chief minister said that the force has to win support and trust of the people through good performance, hard work and polite attitude towards the public. He added that modern training has been imparted to the force and it should prove itself through hard work.

The CM inspected the parade and contingents of the force presented a salute to the chief minister. He also distributed prizes to the police officials who displayed excellent performance.

Shehbaz Sharif informed that the force is operating successfully in Lahore and in the second phase it is being established in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur.

The CM hoped that all passing out police will set a wonderful example of diligence and will live up to the expectations of the public.  He added that protection of life and property of the public is the basic responsibility of the state and for this purpose all-out resources are being provided to the police and security institutions.

He also said that the Punjab government has established anti-terrorism department which is working excellently. He added that a new force has also been established to protect CPEC projects in Punjab.

Addressing the ceremony, Punjab IGP Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz said that the CM has provided all-out resources to modernise Punjab police and their problems have been resolved on a priority basis. He also said that street crime in Lahore has been reduced due to Dolphin Force and street crime in other cities will also reduce due to its expansion.

Lahore Police Training College Commandant DIG Fayyaz Ahmed presented the welcome address. Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, provincial ministers, lawmakers and senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
