Tight security to be ensured during urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai

HYDERABAD: The district administration of Matiari would adopt strict security arrangements with activation of intelligence network of law enforcement agencies during the three=day long 274th annual urs celebrations of great Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai at Bhitshah Town.

This was informed by the Matiari Deputy Commissioner Pervez Ahmed Baloch while presiding over a meeting on Friday with the officers of departments responsible to make the arrangements of urs celebrations in a befitting manner.

The deputy commissioner informed that besides deployment of Rangers and Police at Bhtishah Town, the CCTV cameras would also be installed around the Mazar of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in order to avert any untoward incident during the celebrations.

He asked the officers of all lined departments to ensure adequate arrangements of cleanliness, lighting, health facilities and water supply so that the devotees of the shrine could not face any inconvenience.

He also directed to initiate strict action against drug trafficking and drug addicts so that the sanctity of the occasion could be maintained accordingly.

The Matiari SSP Syed Imdad Ali Shah informed the meeting that around two

thousand Policemen and 100 Rangers personnel would be deployed in Bhitshah Town to ensure effective security arrangements during the celebrations.

Besides CCTV cameras, he informed that drone cameras would also be used to monitor the activities of the people while 14 walk-through gates would also be installed for entrance into the shrine.

The Culture Department Director Abdul Aleem Lashari informed that a statue of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai would be installed soon at the Karrar Lake of Bhitshah Town.  The literary conference, “Sugharan-ji-Mehfil”, musical concerts, cultural village and launching of eight books will be the part of the urs celebrations, he informed.

  1. Sufis , especially great Hazrat Abdul Latif Bhittai, were all against any form of idolatry and they advised us all to break the “statues of ego” . So I don’t think its advisable of Sindh Culture department to put up a statue of Saint Bhittai. Maybe they can spend the money allocated for some better project? Like starting an annual Bhittai Scholarship or something to help people? Haq LA illaha illallah .
