RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Special Court Judge Muhammad Bashir on Thursday remarked that it seemed the Ephedrine case was cherry-picked as the shareholder Razia Bakhtawari of Grace Pharma, who owns 50 per cent share, was not included in the investigation process and summons were not issued to her either.
The judge urged both parties (Anti-Narcotics Force and Hanfi Abbasi) to demonstrate seriousness as the court wanted to announce verdict within two weeks while adjourning the hearing till October 23.
On Thursday, accused involved in Ephedrine case, including owner of Grace Pharma Hanif Abbasi, Basit Abbasi, Siraj Abbasi, Marketing Manager Rana Mohsin Khurshid, Production Manager Ghazanfar Ali, Quality Control Manager Nasir Khan and owner of AB Pharmaceutical Ahmed Bilal, were present in the court besides Hanif Abbasi counsel Tanvir Iqbal, ANF lawyer Chaudhry Zahid Mehmood and ANF case special law inspector Mirza Abdul Rehman.
The ANF investigation officer said the investigation shows that neither the DMS tablet were manufactured in Grace Pharmaceutical nor given to shopkeepers contrary to the claims that the quota was taken to make DMS tablet.
Likewise, this, the invoices issued from Rawalpindi were not matching with the manufacturing as these invoices were issued afterwards, while tablets were manufactured and sold out earlier. The investigation office adopted the stance that Ephedrine quota was smuggled instead of using in tablets.
Earlier, the case was adjourned till October 19 after recording the statement of ANF investigation officer.
