ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Thursday stated that Nawaz Sharif had requested an exemption from the court due to his wife Kulsoom Nawaz’s illness.
She stated this while addressing the media outside the accountability court in Islamabad adding that the Sharif family is appearing before the court even though false allegations have been leveled against them.
“Maryam Nawaz’s mother is ill but she has appeared before the court following the directions of her father as Nawaz Sharif himself respects legal institutions,” she said.
She claimed that PML-N and Sharif family firmly believe in the supremacy of law despite persisting legal loopholes in the system.
Marriyum dismissed the perception that the Sharifs are escaping judicial accountability.
