Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan on October 22

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is set to return to Pakistan on October 22.

The ousted premier has booked an air ticket that shows that he will be travelling via Pakistan International Airline’s flight PK-758 from London to Lahore.

He will reach Lahore at 4:40am on October 22.

On October 4, Nawaz reached London to spend time with his wife Kulsoom, who is undergoing treatment for throat cancer.

In the meantime, Nawaz Sharif missed three hearings of the corruption references against him in an accountability court.

On Thursday, Nawaz was indicted in two corruption references whereas he is expected to be indicted in the third reference on Friday.

When he left, the former prime minister’s PIA ticket had a return date of January 4, 2018.

That was the second visit of the former premier to London after his wife was diagnosed with lymphoma by the British doctors on August 22.

Talking to media persons in London on Thursday, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that he would return to Pakistan from London before October 26, to face the cases.

He said the Supreme Court had disqualified him on having “Iqama” as he was neither involved in corruption nor in kickback charges.

Expressing reservations over the decision of the court, he said, “Panama Papers case ended on Iqama”. He also said that a number of Pakistani people were holding Iqama.

The former premier stated that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was formulated with selected people, adding that there was no precedent to indict somebody in their absence.

Nawaz, however, hoped that justice would be done in the cases filed against him. He also asked the nation to pray for the early recovery of ailing Kulsoom Nawaz.
