ECP warns of legal action against Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry that “if the PTI member does not change his tone then legal proceeding will be initiated against him”.

The ECP spokesperson said Fawad Chaudhry wanted to hold a one-on-one meeting with the chief election commissioner (CEC), but he tried to defame the CEC when he was denied the permission.

The spokesperson further said that the ECP won’t be blackmailed by any political party.

On Tuesday, PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry, while speaking to media outside the Supreme Court, Fawad alleged that as soon as the chief election commissioner assumed office he bought himself two new land cruisers from the national treasury. However, ECP had issued a statement condemning these remarks.

The ECP explained that after a government car is considered ‘dysfunctional’ then it is auctioned off and that money is added to the national treasury. The new cars were purchased from the money old cars were sold for.
