The wait for the full theatrical trailer of Shoaib Mansoor’s latest film Verna is over as it was finally released on Tuesday.
From the looks of it, Verna mainly revolves around the protagonist Sarah’s (Mahira Khan) struggle for justice after she survives rape.
The film’s recently released song, ‘Sambhal Sambhal Kay’ is also a current fan favourite.
From the trailer, we can gather that the protagonist, Sarah, has been deceived by two men in her life — her husband (Haroon Shahid) and a political acquaintance of hers (Zarrar Khan).
Rasheed Naz’s closing dialogue ‘DNA match kia tou kya karein gai?’ (What do we do if the DNA matches?) suggests that rape could be the subject matter of the film.
But we can’t say much at the moment. We will just have to wait and watch.
While talking to the media before the trailer release, Mahira Khan remarked that she was getting nervous as to how the public would receive the trailer. She also said that she always knew that Shoaib Mansoor would include her in his next film as he was always very fond of her.
She said that she got the offer in an email in which Shoaib Mansoor wrote, ‘I’ve given you your life’s first acting role, now I’ll give you the best role of your life.'” She, of course, accepted his offer.

Verna is written, produced and directed by Shoaib Mansoor, known for his highly acclaimed films Khuda Kay Liye and Bol. Shahid will be starring opposite Khan while the rest of the cast includes Zarrar Khan, Naimal Khawar, and Rasheed Naz.
Mansoor stated, “I believe in meaningful cinema. The subject of all my films are very close to my heart and Verna is no different. It is my ongoing effort to educate both men and women… women to stand up for their rights and men to accept women as their equals.”
Given the love and appreciation shown for Verna, we hope the film lives up to expectations.
Verna is all set to release on 17th November 2017, worldwide.
