KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Social Welfare, Shamim Mumtaz has advised over 4,000 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to get their registration renewed in a week; in case of failure their registration stands cancelled.
She said this while presiding over a meeting regarding NGOs at her office here on Wednesday. Social Welfare Director General Raheem Lakho, Voluntary Agencies Deputy Director Seema Naz and others attended the meeting.
Provincial Advisor Shamim Mumtaz noted that over twelve thousand NGOs were registered with social welfare department and as per rules, it is mandatory for all NGOs to get annual renewal after submitting audit reports.
She said that over four thousands NGOs have been asked to get renewal and were served notices. However, they failed to submit any reply. She said that their registration stands cancelled if they fail to get renewal within a week.
