‘Enrollment in schools increasing gradually’

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that enrollment in schools is increasing gradually as the Sindh government is spending a huge amount on the education sector.

He said this while presiding over a meeting in his Sindh Assembly building office on Wednesday, according to a statement.

Education Schools Secretary Iqbal Durrani, Education Works Chief Engineer Bachal Memon and other officers also attended the meeting.

He said that missing facilities in schools were being meted out on priority basis.

In girls’ schools, the damaged roofs, washrooms and boundary walls, while in boys’ schools the damaged roofs were being repaired and constructed, he added.

Jam Mehtab directed the officers concerned to pay attention on quality work and development schemes proposed by MNAs and MPAs.

He warned the officers to bring about positive change within in a month and said that those contractors who failed to perform their duties properly would not be spared.

In the meeting the officers briefed the minister regarding progress on development schemes.
