Punjab govt donates Rs 50 million to Shahid Afridi Foundation to establish hospital in Thar

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif donated Rs 50 million on behalf of the provincial government to Shahid Afridi’s charity ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation’ on Tuesday.

During their meeting, Shehbaz Sharif lauded the former captain’s efforts in promoting the health and education sectors in Pakistan and presented a cheque of Rs 50 million to the foundation to build a state-of-the-art hospital in Thar.

The chief minister said that there was a strong need for the private sector and government to work together to promote health, education and other social sectors in the country. He encouraged members of the private sector to come forward and participate in projects that worked for the welfare of the society, adding that they could rest assured of the government’s support.

Afridi thanked the chief minister for the donation and added that the chief minister’s services in areas of health and education were worthy of praise.

He said that he wanted to give back to the society that had given him so much love for many years, saying that he planned to make health and education his priority areas.

On Monday, Afridi inaugurated a school in Lahore under the Shahid Afridi Foundation.
