Former CJP Ajmal Mian passes away in Karachi

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Ajmal Mian passed away in Karachi on Monday, according to his family.

Justice (retd) Ajmal’s funeral were held in Mustafa Mosque on Monday in the Defence Housing Authority, Karachi and he was buried in the Mewa Shah graveyard. He was the chief justice of Supreme Court from December 23, 1997, to June 30, 1999.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, other judges and registrar have expressed deep sorrow and grief on the sad demise of Ajmal Mian. They have extended their heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to members of grieved family of departed soul.

They prayed to Allah Almighty to shower his blessings upon the departed soul and to give patience to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.

They also lauded the meritorious services of Justice Ajmal Mian rendered to the judicial system of Pakistan.
