HYDERABAD: Like other parts of the country, three-day celebrations of the Hindu festival Diwali will begin in Hyderabad on October 19.
The Hindu community of Hyderabad and other cities and towns in Sindh have already started preparations for the festival that would be celebrated on October 19 with great enthusiasm.
Diwali is a colourful festival involving lighting candles, worshipping, celebration and prayers, where sweets are offered to all devotees. On the event, being the festival of lights, thousands of lamps are lit in and outside every home on the day.
The celebrations continue for five days and each day of Diwali celebration is associated with different myths, legends and beliefs.
Diwali is considered auspicious for shopping, inaugurations of new homes, business deals or for starting any new venture or project.
The owners of sweets shops and bakeries have also taken a preliminary start of the event preparation and it will increase with the passage of time as the majority of the Hindus prefer to buy sweets and cakes to serve their visitors on the occasion.
