Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that the United States had been conveyed of Pakistan Army’s capability of conducting military operations on its own soil and that the US had been asked to provide intelligence against militants.

Speaking at a TV programme, Asif issued a clarification of his statement regarding joint military operations which he said was altered in the media. Earlier, former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali had criticised Asif’s statement on joint military action, calling it an insult to the country’s sovereignty.

Khawaja Asif said that that Pakistan Army had successfully wiped out militants during the past four years and had delivered on the National Action Plan.
