NPC Cricket Championship 2017: Pakistan Today defeat INP by 33 runs

–Wazir scores 56, while Paracha takes four wickets

The cricket team of Pakistan Today on Sunday defeated the Independent News Agency (INP) cricket team in the first round of the National Press Club Cricket Championship 2017 played at the Margalla Cricket ground.

The INP won the toss but decided to ball first.

Mian Abrar, the resident editor and captain of the team, and Chaudry Talat provided the team with a firm opening start, whereas Hamid Khan Wazir and Shahzad Paracha contributed 56 and 18 runs, respectively.  At the end of 15 overs, the total score of the team touched 126 runs.

The INP’s team, while chasing the target, was all out at the score of 93. Paracha took four wickets while Chaudhary Talat bagged two wickets; whereas, Hamid Khan Wazir and Mian Abrar took one wicket each.

Pakistan Today has qualified for the next round which will start on Wednesday. A total of 48 teams from various media outlets are participating in the tournament which is an initiative by National Press Club to give journalists of all stripes an opportunity for entertainment and sports.
