LAHORE: The Operations Wing of Lahore Police arrested 211 members of 89 criminal gangs and traced 266 cases against them during September 2017.
Further, stolen items worth Rs 17 million were recovered from them, according to a police spokesman on Friday.
He said that 102 proclaimed offenders and 837 court absconders of A and B categories were arrested during the campaign. As many as 337 cases of illegal possession of weapons were registered as well.
The police recovered six Kalashnikovs, six rifles, 15 guns, 313 revolvers and pistols and 1,810 bullets from the accused.
During the action against drug-traffickers, 444 cases were registered and 451 culprits were arrested. Also, 1.5kg heroin, 243kg charas, 16kg opium and 4,765 bottles of liquor were recovered from them.
Moreover, 69 cases were registered against gamblers in which 400 accused were arrested, and stake money of over Rs 900,000 was recovered.
During the same month, 325 cases were registered against 711 persons for violation of law.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has directed the police to implement the National Action Plan and utilise all energies to curb crime in the city.
