ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have condemned the issuance of the non-bailable arrest warrant of its chairman Imran Khan by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

They said that the decision to arrest Imran Khan is based on discrimination, adding that the ECP is not a competent authority to issue such warrant and due to its biased attitude it cannot hold fair elections either.

Two sons-in-laws of ECP chief are government servants and they are not eligible to stay in their positions, they said, adding that they will not remain silent anymore.

Talking to reporters, PTI leader Naeemul Haq said that the issuance of the arrest warrant of Imran Khan is a condemnable act, adding that the decision will be challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Naeemul Haq said that contempt of court case against Imran Khan is being heard under the obsolete law, adding the law has been revoked.

PTI counsel Babar Awan told reporters that the decision is and based on discrimination, adding that under what law notices against Imran Khan were issued in such haste.

Meanwhile, Awami Muslim League (AML) head Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad said that in contempt of court case, the issuance of nonbailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan is infringement and transgression of the law. He said such warrant by the ECP has further weakened its own position.
