Pak, US ties should be utilised for people’s welfare: Shujaat

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain has said that the US can help Pakistan eliminate poverty by helping with the health, education and other sectors.

He was talking to US Consul General in Lahore Elizabeth K Trudeau along with Political Officer Ann Mason, who called on him at his residence on Wednesday.

Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Parvez Elahi was also present on the occasion.

Shujaat said that there was a need for further improvement in US-Pakistan relations, new avenues of progress and development will open by working together on people’s welfare projects of both the governments.

He said that bilateral trade between the two countries should also be promoted so that harmony may increase.

During the meeting, the US consul general appreciated five years tenure of Chaudhary Parvez Elahi as the chief minister. She said that under his leadership significant progress was made in the fields of health, education and welfare. She further said that these projects were also appreciated by the US government.
