ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), after conducting 20 counter-narcotics operations across the country, recovered 40.5 kilogrammes (kg) drugs worth Rs 81 million in the international market, while also arresting 23 drug smugglers and impounding six vehicles in the process.
The seized drugs included 33.4 kg of hashish, 3.4 kg of heroin, 3.3 kg of amphetamine and 300 grams cocaine.
Per details, ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused, identified as Islam Gul of Mardan, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, who was travelling to Saudi Arabia by Gulf Airways flight No GF-771, and recovered from his possession 780 grams of amphetamine from his trolley bag.
In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a foreign bound passenger, identified as Khalid Noor of Hangu, at Benazir Bhutto International Airport while travelling to Dubai by Shaheen Airways flight No NL-221, and recovered 1.4 kg of amphetamine from his bag.
Similarly, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 4 kg of hashish from the personal possession of Muhammad Ilahi Khan, Rozia Bibi and Hussain Taj, all residents of Nowshera. They were arrested from Karachi Hotel, located near Pirwadhai Road in Rawalpindi.
In yet another, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Toyota Corolla car near CDA bus stop, IJP road Islamabad, and recovered 2 kg of hashish from a secret cavity of the vehicle. The accused, identified as Sohail Atlas and Muhammad Saqib of Rawalpindi, were arrested at the spot during the operation.
Furthermore, ANF Lahore recovered 900 grams of heroin from the possession of an accused, namely Muhammad Jamil, a resident of Gujranwala. The accused was arrested at the main bus station of Sialkot.
Moreover, ANF Lahore also recovered 5 kg of hashish from the possession of two accused, identified as Asia Bibi, a resident of Muzaffargarh, and Muhammad Akram, a resident of Multan. The accused were arrested near a PSO petrol pump located on the main Multan-Aliabad road, Multan.
In another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.2 kg of hashish from the possession one, identified as Masood-ul-Hassan, a resident of Sialkot. The accused was arrested near Airport road Sambrial, Sialkot.
Similarly, ANF Lahore intercepted a motorcycle near Niazi Bus Stand on Band road, Lahore and recovered 3.6 kg of hashish from the possession of one, identified as Imran Ali Shah, a resident of Lahore.
Following a lead, the ANF Lahore intercepted another motorcycle near Khan Medical Store, Clifton Hotel, Railway Station, Lahore and recovered 2.4 kg of hashish from the possession of the accused, identified as Zulfiqar Ali of Lahore.
In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car near a CNG pump located at Pindi Bhattian motorway toll plaza, Hafizabad and recovered 4.8 kg of hashish from their possession, which was tactfully concealed in secret cavities of the car. A person on board, identified as Muhammad Ramzan of Toba Tek Singh, was apprehended by the police during the operation.
Cases against the nabbed accused have been registered at different police stations and further investigations were underway.
