LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmad has said that to create awareness among public regarding invalid number plates and vehicle registration, pamphlets were distributed on Faisal Chowk, Mall Road on Tuesday.
He said that awareness against invalid and fake number plates is extremely important due to security concerns in the country. Therefore, it is imperative that citizens use correct and accurate number plates approved by Excise Department only.
For this purpose, City Traffic Police’s education teams are giving lectures in schools, colleges, and various public stands on a daily basis. Public address system, social media, electronic and print media are also being used to create awareness among the public, he said. He added that the registration documents of vehicles with fancy and peculiar number plates are being confiscated and are being returned only after accurate documents are presented.
Rai ijaz said that makers of invalid number plates are being warned. He said that the public should go to the Excise Department to procure valid number plates; otherwise no tolerance will be show against violators.
