Two in 5 Pakistanis blame in-laws for most divorces: Poll


 
 
According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 2 in 5 Pakistanis opined that the in-laws are responsible for most divorces in Pakistan while 30pc blamed the wives. 
A nationally representative sample of men and women in four provinces was asked, “Generally, when there are divorces in Pakistan, who do you think is the most responsible or the guilty party in the case?” In response, 27pc said the husband, 30pc said the wife, 41pc said the in-laws and 1pc said others while 1pc did not know.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1781 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, from September 11 to September 18, 2017. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95pc confidence level.
