Heat-stroke camps set up to protect residents

 

KARACHI: Korangi District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Chairman Syed Nayyar Raza said on Monday that apart from having public awareness regarding natural disasters, people also needed to play their due role for the betterment of the environment.

He said this during his visit to the heat-stroke camps set up in different streets and roadsides of Korangi with the joint efforts of Korangi DMC and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P).

He said that people have to adopt serious measures to make the natural environment better in order to protect them from the ongoing heat-wave.

“We have to promote the plantation programme to improve the environment and in this purpose, each and every person of the society has to plant a seed for trees and look after it as well, which will surely make our environment worth-living,” he said. “These camps provide clean and cold drinking water, first-aid and basic awareness to the public regarding the protection from ongoing heat-wave in Karachi,” he added.

He further said that Korangi DMC was performing its job very well in terms of cleanliness and plantation, besides raising awareness among people regarding precautionary measures against heat. He also directed the department of parks to boost clean and green environment with the help of the public.
