Delegation of foreign journalists meets KP police chief

PESHAWAR: A five-member delegation of foreign journalists on Monday called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Khan Mehsood at the Central Police Office (CPO).

It merits mention here that the members of the delegation belonged to Lebanon, Nepal and Taiwan

On the occasion, IGP Salahuddin welcome the delegation and informed them that the peace had been restored in the province due to unprecedented sacrifices of the police and other security forces.

He informed the delegation that the overall law and order situation of the province had improved considerably and the incidents of terrorism and other crimes have decreased as compared to the last 10 years.

The IGP further informed the delegation that the people of the province had passed through a difficult phase of weak security situation and approximately 1,500 police personnel had embraced martyrdom in the ongoing war against terrorism.

The IGP invited the foreigners, particularly the journalist community, to visit the province, observe the prevailing situation and then inform their countrymen about the real picture of the province.

The IGP termed the visit a good step towards further improving ties between Pakistan and important foreign countries.

Speaking on the occasion, the members of the delegation said that it was their first visit to Pakistan and they found Peshawar to be more peaceful and safe than before.

They highly commended the sacrifices of the police and security forces in the war against terror.

Later, Salahuddin presented a police shield to the members of the delegation as a memento.
