LAHORE: Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar has decided to take premature retirement, according to reports.
Seeking “premature release due to some pressing personal commitments”, Gen Rizwan, who is currently the president of the National Defence University in Islamabad, said in his resignation letter to Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa:
“I want everyone knowing me to respect my decision and not succumb or resort to speculation in any domain.”
Gen Rizwan further said that he has taken the decision with a “heavy heart but with great satisfaction” to “hang my uniform on 9th October 2017 after close to 35 years of dedicated active commissioned service”.
He said that he would like to place on record his sincere gratitude for all his seniors, comrades and staff, including his family, who had provided constant guidance to him throughout his long career. He added that it was a matter of great pride and honour for him to have served the army of this great nation.
“I shall be available for any service in the army whenever needed,” he concluded.
Gen Rizwan was commissioned in the Army’s Frontier Force Regiment in September 1982.
He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College in Quetta, National Defence University, Islamabad (NDU) and United States Army War College, Pennsylvania, USA. At the US Army War College, Gen Rizwan authored a strategy research project report titled ‘US-Pakistan trust deficit and the war on terror’ in fulfillment of the requirements of the Master in Strategic Studies Degree.

Is he available on Face Book?
Pakistan Army simply neesa enlisting and enjoining with Allah’s “Sabeel.” Allah has described it as “fee sabeel lillah” in Allah Name and “Sake.” All Good-Deeds done in Allah’s sake get rewards both here in this world and especially in the hereafter with manifold increase. Allah prefers peace and mutual friendship with the enemy, In this He puts the enemy on His wrong side and casts His “Rob” (terror) on it. Its best example lies with “Truce of Hudaibiya.” The enemy forced even humiliating terms against Arab tradition. But Allah called it “Fateh Mubeen.” India has no culture; no civilisation; and no destiny. It is most backward. Nehru felt sick of Hindus “Pooja Pat.” He called himself a “Hindu by accident.” He praised Arabs lavishly in his Book: “Glimpses of world History.” He says, “It is very strange that the Arabs who had lived a sleepy existence for centuries, apparently cut off from the rest of the world should suddenly wake up and show such tremendous energy as to starle the world. The story of the Arabs and how they spread rapidly over Asia, Europe, and Africa, and of the high culture and civilisation that they developed is “one of the wonders of history.” He is on record saying, ‘If the young conqueror Muhammad bin Passim had advanced beyond Multan and not called back, Indian history would be very different from the raiders from the North.” Allah makes it clear in bold lettres “He is your Maula and the unbelievers have no Maula for them.”
Let us make peace with India, giving them a slight edge to trap them in their ignorance of Islam and its blessings. Let us create an independent Think Tank. Let us learn from Britain who had envisaged their future with creating East India Co. We’re far better placed in carving our future. But for this we need to turn to God in humble repentance and His forgiveness for distancing with Him. Let us discuss and debate on our merits and get going.
