PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra attended a condolence reference arranged in the memory of late Professor Ziaul Qamar at Edwardes College on Saturday.
The ceremony was attended by the principal, faculty members and students of the institution, along with the family members of late Professor Ziaul Qamar. It merits mention here that the deceased professor had been a longtime faculty member of the institution.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor highly eulogised the professional capabilities of the deceased, as well as the services rendered by him as a torch-bearer of education in the province in dark times and for positive image building of the institution. He said the late professor did not only contribute his services as a learned prominent figure, but also played a vital role in reforming the society by applying his artistic skills.
The governor, who is also the Edwardes College Board of Governors chairman, expressed his sympathies with the family members of the deceased and said that the late professor was one of his closest friends whose company would be sorely missed. He urged the participants to honour the memory of Ziaul Qamar by keeping his services for the cause of education alive.
The governor, who himself was a student at this college once, also paid rich tributes to the role which the institution had played in contributing towards development of the country.
