Rangers on Friday claim to have arrested a gang of fraudsters, involved in taking bribes in the name of law enforcement agencies during a search operation in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the metropolis.
The Rangers’ spokesperson said during snap checking Rangers stopped a suspicious car where an accused, Muhammad Rafiq, impersonated him as intelligence major, but he failed to show departmental identity. During interrogation he confessed that he was taking money from the families of arrested individuals with help of his two accomplices, Ghulam Farid and Ali Hassan. They were stated to be involved in extortion, land grabbing and other crimes.
The Rangers also claimed to have recovered a pistol with bullets, drugs and fake property documents from their possession. The Rangers shifted them to undisclosed location for further investigation.
