KARACHI: Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested five suspected criminals, including a member of a political party, in different targeted raids in the city early on Friday.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the paramilitary force carried out a raid in Model Colony and apprehended a political party activist, Zakir Hussain Tayaan, affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London. The accused was allegedly involved in targeted killings and other crimes.
Separately, a Rangers party arrested an accused, Muhammad Sharif. The suspect was allegedly linked with Zahid Ladla group from Lyari gang war, and also involved in targeted killings, extortion and other crimes, the Rangers said.
In another case, a Rangers team detained robber Abdul Suleman, who was wanted by the police for several robbery cases.
The Rangers also carried out search operations in Shah Faisal Colony and Preedy areas of the metropolis and arrested a drug peddler, Faisal Anwar, and another criminal, Muhammad Rasheed. Weapons, drugs and contraband were allegedly recovered from their possession.
