Hospitals put on high alert to combat expected heatwave

 

 

Sindh Health Department has put all government hospitals of Karachi on high alert to counter expected heatwave emergency like situation following moderate heatwave conditions predicted by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Health Services Director Dr Muhammad Taufiq, while talking to PPI, said high alert issued to all government run hospitals across Karachi city with reference to Met Office predication about expected Heat-Wave in Karachi from October 8 to October 13, 2017.

The directives has been issued to Executive Director, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, medical superintendents of Civil Hospital Karachi, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital Korangi, Sindh Govt Ibrahim Hyderi, Sindh Govt Hospital Saudabad, Sindh Govt Hospital Liaquatabad, Sindh Govt Qatar Hospital, Sindh Govt Children Hospital, Sindh Govt New Karachi, Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital and District Health Officers.

They have been directed prepare to cope with the situation if arise like functionalizing Heat-Stroke treatment/stabilization centres in health facilities to provide emergency medical treatment , depute medical and paramedical staff, allocate separate beds, provide essential medicines, depute focal of your district/hospital along with cell number to contact for daily reporting of the heat-stroke victims.

“The expected heatwave can affect the lives of people especially aged & children. Keeping previous experience in mind and to combat this we have to prepare again ourselves,” Dr Taufiq added.
